WPI Glee Club

About Us

The WPI Glee Club is the oldest student organization on campus. Its deep traditions of singing and brotherhood go back over 140 years and continue on today with our current chorus of over 60 members.

We perform from a repertoire of extensive arrangements, from Mozart to Eric Whitacre and from Schubert to Paul Winter. We frequently perform alongside Alden Voices, WPI's Women's Choir, as well as groups from all over New England.

Performances are also conducted with area orchestras, including the Concord Symphony and New England Philharmonic. The Glee Club frequently tours domestically and internationally. Past tours include New York City, Montreal, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and London.

The Glee Club is conducted by Dr. Joshua Rohde, Director of Choral Activities at WPI.

As a non-auditioned group, anyone is openly welcomed to join our longstanding traditions of brotherhood and song. If you enjoy singing and want to make lifelong friends and memories, this is the place for you.

Our Director

Joshua Rohde

Dr. Rohde completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University in Choral Conducting in 2017, where he taught undergraduate courses in conducting and ear training, and wrote a dissertation on living Scottish composer Sir James MacMillan. He is also the music director for the Quincy Choral Society, manages the Harvard Choruses’ New Music Initiative, and frequently performs as cellist for the Marsh Chapel Collegium Orchestra and Worcester Chorus.

Conducting performances for the 2016-2017 season include J.S. Bach’s Cantata No. 6 – "Bleib bei uns, denn es will Abend warden", David Lang’s "The Little Match Girl Passion", James MacMillan’s "Seven Last Words from the Cross", and Felix Mendelssohn’s "Psalm 42".

Where To Find Us

All of our rehearsals are held at First Baptist Church, located next to the Park Avenue parking garage, just down the steps by the Recreation Center. Rehearsals are held at the following times:

Tuesdays from 5:00-6:30 PM

Thursdays from 5:00-6:30 PM

On Tuesday nights we rehearse by ourselves, but on Thursdays we rehearse alongside Alden Voices (WPI's Women's Choir). Together we are known as The WPI Festival Choir, and often sing in off-campus concerts.

Additionally, many of our (completely optional, but strongly encouraged and totally fun) social events take place after rehearsals on Tuesday nights, so keep that in mind when planning your schedule.
